Good morning and happy Friday!
I’m back to my old tricks again with more Friday favorites! I started doing monthly favorites a few months ago but I think the weekly version works much better after all. Plus it’s always nice to reflect on my favorites from the week.
Here we go!
- In The Dark.
The In The Dark podcast focuses on the early investigation of the Jacob Wetterling case. Jacob was a young boy who was abducted from a small, central Minnesota town in 1989. His case remained a mystery for 27 years. The production of this podcast started before the remains of Jacob Wetterling were found and was scheduled for release just prior to the anniversary of his abduction. This isn’t your typical true crime podcast; it definitely stands on its own. Host Madeleine Baran interviews Jacob’s parents, Patty and Jerry Wetterling, among others.

In the dark, before moonrise on Oct. 22, 1989, three boys rode home on bikes and a scooter after renting a video of The Naked Gun at a Tom Thumb store in St. Joseph, Minn. Carrying a flashlight and reflective gear, they drifted along a dead-end road that connected a cul-de-sac of houses to town, their biggest concern that they might be hit by a car.
The announcement that his remains had been found happened on September 3, 2016 after long-time person of interest Danny Heinrich admitting to abducting, sexually assaulting, killing and burying Jacob and telling authorities where his remains were. I’m currently on episode five and I can’t stop listening. I was six years old when Jacob went missing and I remember seeing his story on the news throughout the years. I’m thankful his family has closure but my heart breaks knowing the outcome.

- Green Barn Garden Center.
This year on one of the days of MEA break I took the all the kids over to a local greenhouse for some fall fun. They had a corn pit and an adorable maze/scavenger hunt. I got so many great pictures taken here because of the seasonal displays and decor they had everywhere.
This is easily one of my favorites from the day:
I had to get in on the action too:
We loved it!
- Calf Compression Sleeves.
I mentioned these in my Fitness Must Haves post but it’s worth mentioning again because these have been so helpful for me during my cardio, plyo and legs workouts. So far I’ve been wearing them during my workouts and I can feel the difference. Some people wear them immediately following a workout (after showering) so I might try that too to see how it goes. If you experience any pain in your calves or shin splints, I highly recommend these.
- PopSugar Must Have Box: October.
I am thoroughly enjoying the October Must Have Box from PopSugar. I’m finding that all of the items are super useful. Plus, I never thought I’d ever own a $58 umbrella! The pink and brown is a really nice combo for fall. Bella and I really love the scent of the bubble bath/shower gel too.
The pink Makeup Eraser microfiber cloth is amazing. I plan on giving that one to Miss G since I already have the full size version. Such an easy way to get the makeup off your face. All you need is water!
- Roger got called back.
Roger was laid off from his job on August 1st of this year. Thankfully he had a previous job to fall back on (where I also currently work), but we lost all of our benefits in the process. He got the call on Tuesday of last week to go back and we’re so thankful. Where we currently work has been pretty slow so he hasn’t had much to do so I’m happy that he’ll actually be busy and that our benefits will pick up right where they left off. And he’ll be getting the raised he missed by not being employed by them in September when the raises were given out (it’s a contract thing). He started this past Monday. God continues to provide just when we need it most.
And that wraps it up! I hope you have an awesome weekend! Temps are supposed to be around 70 around here. Incredible. Not too many days like this left for Minnesota!
