It’s Not Just About Fitness

Good morning and happy Monday!

I hope you had a relaxing weekend filled with football (or whatever else you enjoy). I’ve been waiting for football to start for months so I’m a happy girl cuz it’s finally here! And the Vikes won to top it all off.

This blog has been mostly about my fitness journey but fitness is just one aspect of my life. Although it’s a big aspect of my life the past week I’ve had ZERO workouts and I’m not even mad. More on my workout plans a little bit later…

As parents, we go through several adjustment periods and I’ve just recently gone through one with the kids being back in school. We added another child to the middle school life which is a little scary. There are so many emotions I feel on the first day of school. The night before my kids started school I couldn’t sleep. At all. I was more nervous than they were! I ended up talking with God quite a bit as I lay there wide awake… and I finally felt dead tired and ready for sleep around 6:30am. When it was time to get the kids up of course!

My sleep suffered most of the week and that led to after work naps and eating like food was going out of style! The great news for the kids is that everything went along smoothly and they all had great first days of school.

On Friday I rewarded myself to a small shopping trip on my day off from work and it felt amazing! I wandered through Walmart and Target for a good two hours and came home with some goodies to help get the house ready for fall.

On Saturday night we had a bonfire with the kids.

Temps fell to the 60’s so the weather was perfect!

Workout Talk

I have decided to switch up my workouts again.

Roger and I get home from work around the same time most days so we’ve just been having one of us go first and then the other goes after they’re finished. It works… but I’m not a big fan of it. It’s just better if we can work it in to workout at the same time.

Today I’ll be starting Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide. It consists of workouts I love – circuits – along with HIIT (or LISS) a couple times a week. There isn’t a lot of equipment needed so I’ll be able to do this upstairs in the living room. I’ve been having some trouble with my back (presumably because it’s so weak) so the heavy heavy lifting will have to wait.
