It’s time for another favorite things post! We’re officially in the middle of summer. Bumble bees are buzzing (so are wasps but I’d rather not talk about them and their aggressiveness), butterflies are fluttering, birds are swirling around our feeders and my plants seem to be thriving. Well, most of them. I love this time of year! But I’m secretly even more excited for fall.
Summer means busier days with kids out of school and summer TV! I haven’t made many purchases because we’re working on paying off all debt.
Here are my favorites from June.
My Favorite Things: June 2016
- Tower Days Parade.
Any time we’re able to bring the kids somewhere to have fun (for free!) is a great situation in my book. This parade never disappoints. The boys had fun collecting stickers, informational cards and of course candy. The groups of cheerleaders, gymnasts and dancers are always my personal favorite. There are some talented, tiny kiddos out there and they’re so fun to watch! It reminds me of watching my sister’s dance recitals when we were younger. I live my love of dancing vicariously through those who can actually dance, haha! (That is not me.)
- Erin Condren 2016-2017 Life Planner.
I am a planner junkie. It’s not even just planners either. I love notebooks, colorful pens, markers, stickers and anything that is stationery. Do you remember Lisa Frank? I had tons of that stuff growing up! It looks like she’s making a comeback. I skipped out on the Erin Condren planner last year and opted to try a couple different types of planners but this year I’m back. I think it’s safe to say this is my most favorite planner.
I ordered on release day and once their site came back from the crash of all the people rushing to order, the order process went super smoothly compared to recent years and the quality is perfection. Processing and shipment were much faster despite their continued growth. My anticipated ship date was June 21st. I received my planner on June 14th. - Big Brother.
There are only a handful of shows I really get into and Big Brother is one of them. This is the perfect show for summer because it’s entertaining and just makes for fun, mindless television – as long as the roommates aren’t too terrible. There have been some nasty ones in the past for sure but not this season. I love the competitions and getting to know these crazy characters from around the country. I’m also a fan of American Ninja Warrior. It’s so inspiring and the women are doing really amazing this season!
Jessie Graff is definitely a crowd favorite, and for good reason!
- Nashville is being renewed!
I found out last month, along with the rest of the country, that Nashville had been cancelled. Gasp! This is one of the handful of shows that I love! They announced earlier this month that it’s being renewed and will air on the CMT network. And yes, I was part of the petition and campaign that wanted to #BringBackNashville. ;)

- Minnesota Vikings birthday prank on rookie Lequon Treadwell.
