It’s workout Wednesday! I’m a bit late with posting today because I have some serious allergies or a cold or something going on. I’ve been up since 4am just feeling super congested, sneezy, cloudy and runny nose all at the same time. When I talk today I’m not really making any sense but hopefully the words will come out right in this post. Fun stuff!
I mentioned in my June goals post that I’d be doing Les Mills On Demand workouts this month and I’m having so much fun! I thought it’d be helpful to highlight some of my favorites on the blog in case you’d like to give them a whirl.
Les Mills On Demand: Bodypump #95
The very first workout I tried was Bodypump #95 which shows up first in the workout list. If you visit LesMillsOnDemand.com and click on a specific workout, you’ll notice that they summarize the workout and include a tracklist for each one. I love that.
Here’s what to expect from Bodypump #95:
A 30-minute workout featuring warmup, legs, chest and back tracks | Equipment: bench, barbell and weight plates. Featuring fast contraction tracks balanced out with slow compound exercises, this workout delivers on everything from calorie burning to strength building. Diana Archer Mills, Glen Ostergaard and Reagan Kang will motivate you through a seriously challenging series of Squats (you keep the same stance for a whole five minutes!) before you get your funk on with an uplifting chest track. The workout ends with a calorie killing combo of Deadlifts, Power Presses and Squat Presses.
It’s been a long time since I’ve done Bodypump workouts so I’m starting with very low weights. If you’re unsure where you’d be, the instructors help you determine that in the beginning which is super cool. I swallowed my pride and used the “beginner” weights as suggested. Thank God I did, too. I’m still sore.
Legs
Weight used: 20# total (10# plate per side)
The squat track is NO joke. You’re in the same position for FIVE minutes! I had sweat dripping from my elbows by about halfway through.
Chest
Weight used: 10# total
I enjoyed the chest workout – probably because I got to lay down, haha! I managed to do most of the push-ups on my toes but once they started going faster I had to go down to my knees – and it was still tough.
Back
Weight used: 10# total
I’ve always loved the LMP back tracks. There were several minutes of deadlifts, row and press combinations. I think I could’ve gone a little heavier but there’s always next time. Its better to be safe than sorry.
Bodypump 95 Track List
Les Mills workouts contain 100% cover music.
1. “Outside” Les Mills cover recording of the track originally recorded by Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding
2. “Bukem” Les Mills cover recording of the track originally recorded by Autoerotique & 4B
3. “Uptown Funk” Les Mills cover recording of the track originally recorded by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars
4. “Beautiful World” Les Mills cover recording of the track originally recorded by Blasterjaxx & DBSTF feat. Ryder
Final Thoughts
Overall I really enjoyed this workout. I found it to be challenging and it definitely made my muscles work. It just goes to show that you can get a great workout in without throwing around huge amounts of weight!
The workout wasn’t really 30 minutes, it was more like almost 27 minutes. That’s fine with me since you can always jump into another workout after you finish one. They also have 55-minute Bodypump workouts you could do if you want a longer session.
I’m really pleased with Les Mills On Demand and can’t wait for tomorrow’s workout!
