Good morning and happy Friday!
I decided to bring back one of my featured posts and that is of course, Fit Links Friday! I’m not sure if I’ll do this weekly – I suppose it depends what kind of content is floating around. For me it’s always fun to read different healthy-living related news and stories from around these crazy interwebs we visit so much. :) Posts like this are just a few links (I try to stick to five) to some great reads I came across throughout the week. If they’re inspiring, informative, opinionated, motivating and/or funny, I’m happy to share it with you. I hope you enjoy some of the great stuff I’ve found this week!
- A few of the ladies from the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team are pretty “pissed“…and for good reason. Remember watching the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team win the World Cup last year? They got paid way less than the men’s team and the men lost. And guess what else I learned? The women actually generate more revenue than the men too! (via PopSugar)
- Looking for some spring training tips? Check out these 5 tips from MLB strength coaches. My favorites are 3, 4 and 5 but they’re all great and can apply to anyone. (via CNN)
- If you’re a tabata fan or you’re curious about celebrity fitness you’ve gotta check out these 4 moves that Carrie Underwood swears by! She says this workout has definitely helped her get her body back after baby. Number 4 is brutal but very effective. Probably why I hate ’em, haha! Did you see her on the American Idol finale last night? Whatever she’s doing is clearly working! (via Shape)
- Looking to make some new, healthier habits? Here are 4 tricks to transform your habits into something better. A quote from this article that stuck out to me, “Many people die at twenty five and aren’t buried until they are seventy five.” – Benjamin Franklin (via Huffington Post)
- I’m very much looking forward to the brand new series ‘Strong’, have you heard of it? If not, it’s a show that features 10 of the best male trainers in the world paired with females ranging in age from their 20’s – 40’s. Adam Von Rothfelder is one of the trainers and he has a really fascinating story about how he got into fitness. It’s very inspiring and makes me even more anxious to watch this show! It’s about time they focus on something other than weight loss. (via Shepherd Express)
The Official Trailer for ‘Strong’:
A few other TV shows I’ve been checking out lately:
- The Ranch with Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson (on Netflix). Rog and I watched the first episode and we loved it!
- Little Big Shots with Steve Harvey (on NBC). This show is actually pretty funny. I watched an episode tonight with my daughter and laughed pretty hard. The interviews between Harvey and the kids are hilarious.
- Wentworth (on Netflix). From what I’ve read, this show is kiiiinda the Australian version of Orange is the New Black. I’m only one episode in but I was definitely left wanting more.
- Life or Debt. (on the Spike channel) This show is about real-life people that are dealing with boat loads of debt and a finance expert comes in and helps them work their way out of it. Good stuff – especially since there are plenty of people in our country living with a great deal of debt – including us (mostly because of my student loans). Barf. This show is motivating for me and it inspires me to keep my head down, work hard and lower those loan balances!
That’s all the fit links for this week, folks! I hope you have a fun weekend planned!
XOXO
